今天下午，妈妈说带我去参加“小记者活动”，我心里乐开了花。因为我们去的是“KFC”，而且是做服务员，更与众不同的是，我们要用英语来交流，还真是一次巨大的挑战!
下午14:05，我和妈妈骑着共享单车象离弦的箭一样很快就来到了厦门市嘉禾路的“KFC”店。我们进门就直奔了二楼的主会场，到了二楼，我发现，这儿参加活动的小记者们可真不少呀!“KFC”的姐姐们让我们穿上带有“KFC”字样的帽子和围裙，我们真的成了“服务员”了。
我们先要去参观厨房，我们一个个井然有序地排好队，男、女生分成两组，迫不及待地冲进去，好奇地看着一台台神奇的仪器，我们争先恐后地向服务员问这个是什么、那个是什么?服务员姐姐都忙不开了!这些仪器都是高温的，有的用来炸薯条、有的用来烤鸡翅、还有的用来做汉堡……，真是有趣极了!
接下来就是我们今天的“重头戏”了。来自印度的LISA老师一本正经地教我们关于服务员的英文用语：“Hello! May I help you? I like…… Nice to meet you! Thank you!”等。她还拿出一本小书开始不厌其烦地一遍一遍地说一些关于西方美食的英文单词，不时说着：“chips、hamburger、cola”等。最后让我们实际操练了，我先充当服务员、然后再充当顾客角色，虽然表现得有些紧张，讲得有点不够熟练，但是也不错啦，小赖叔叔(活动主持者)这样表扬了我，哈哈……
快乐的时光总是不知不觉，一转眼到16:15分了，我该去上别的课了，只好依依不舍地离开了。

My name is Xie Dong. I was born on August 25, 1965, in Hengyang, Hunan Province. In 1977 I graduated from Harbin Technical Institute where I majored in electronic engineering, and then I was assigned to work in an electronic apparatus factory as a technician for nine years. During this period I gained some practical experience in designing and manufacturing several varieties of electronic apparatus. In the fall of 1983, I was admitted to the Department of Mathematics, Zhejiang University as a graduate student. Six months before I took the examinations, I started to study higher algebra and analysis by myself in my leisure time. Since the enrollment I have completed all the courses required by the graduate program, making straight A both in my undergraduate and graduate courses. My performance in the graduate seminars of Differential Calculus and Mathematical and Physical Formulas shows that I have got a good grasp of the fundamentals of mathematics.
I have been studying English intensively for six months. I have attended an English class taught by an American professor. Ms. Kathy Swift, from the City University of New York. According to her, within a few weeks of my arrival abroad, I should have no difficulty either in functioning on a daily basis or in participating fully in graduate studies.
Presently I am interested in applied mathematics and later I would like to do research in control theory. If I am accepted as a graduate student. I plan to stay for 2-5 years pursuing a Ph.d. degree. I am sure I would make progress in my future career.

十点钟，我们13位同学分成三组，由三位老师带队依次进入博物馆。我们将比赛看哪组能正确地回答老师的提问，如果正确的话可以赢得奖品。走在路上，老师突然问：“参观博物馆英文怎么说?”我正好在老师的边上，赶紧举手，正确地回答了老师的问题。老师立马给了我一个玩具铅笔盒，我真的是太高兴了!在一楼，我们看到了古人类使用过的石器，动物的化石。老师指着边上的英文，问我们的意思。同学们很多单词都不懂，老师耐心地教我们。同学们细细地听着，很快全都会了。到了二楼，我们看到了芜湖的历史，解放前的药房，布店，剪刀铺，酱铺等赫然在立，让我感觉非常刺激。还有在本地出土的青铜器十分漂亮，我很佩服古人的勤劳和智慧!在三楼，我还看到了很美的书法作品和立体地图，老师不停地用英文问我们问题，我们不停地拿奖品，每个人都非常高兴。出来的时候老师问我们有什么感受?我们回答老师，“什么都好，就是老师的包带小了，下次带个大点的包，这样我们就有更多的奖品了。”
不知不觉一堂生动的英语课结束了，回到家以后我赶紧拿起英语书看了很久，感觉和老师交谈时单词都不够用。我真的非常喜欢学英语，下次，对!等下次课，我一定要说几个新的句子，把老师的奖品弄到手!
