主持时间为本周二至周五的中午。在主持前一天，我在ViVi老师的帮助下完成了演讲稿。
回家后，我反复朗读，发现有几个不能确定发音的单词，请教了字典老师，在边上注上了音标，才完整地读了下来。
周二的五六年级比赛开始了，我上台的步子那么小，速度那么缓慢，脸蛋红红的，手心不停冒汗，连话筒都湿漉漉的。我紧张极了，读每一个单词都是那么小心翼翼，生怕自己会读错。一句句台词中，不是这个单词读错，就是那个单词发音不标准，有的地方还要搭档提醒……主持时真是状况百出。虽然已到了秋末初冬，我的头上还是布满了密密的汗珠。
放学回家，我飞快地做完作业，又开始主持稿的练习。
周三，我明显感觉轻松了许多，能较熟练地朗读了，真是一天比一天好了！
时间过得飞快，像长着飞轮，转着转着就到周五了，是学校英语卡拉OK比赛的汇报演出。校长来了，老师来了，家长来了，同学们来了，把小礼堂挤得满满的。经过前几天的磨练，我已能完全脱离演讲稿，有时还会蹦出几句赞美选手的话语。紧张的情绪完全消失了，取而代之的是微笑与轻松。
这个星期，我虽然比其他同学少了中午休息和学习的时间，但我觉得很值得，因为通过担当英语主持人，是我的胆子练大了许多，给我的童年时代增添了不可磨灭的快乐！

我家的植物
前不久，我回到家里面，发现家里多了一样东西。我走近一看，哦，原来是棵仙人掌啊。我问爸爸买这东西干嘛呀？爸爸说：“这可以当盆景啊！”“盆景？这么难看的东西都可以当盆景？”
渐渐地，我把它给遗忘了。一天当我回到家的时候，我突然想起：这仙人掌都这么久没浇水了，会不会已经渴死了。我来到后院，发现仙人掌没渴死，反而头上还长了一朵花苞，马上就要展放开来了。为什么这仙人掌这么久没有浇水，都还活着的呢？我非常疑惑。我上网一查，才知道了其中的原因。
原来仙人掌以前它的刺是叶子。但由于在沙漠里，水分很少，不下雨，常年干旱。仙人掌的叶子忍不了这种高温，它的叶子慢慢的进化成了尖锐无比的刺，而且，它的身体构造使其大大减少了水分的流失，所以仙人掌才能够在这干旱的沙漠里生存，并繁衍生息。
原来，这植物王国有这么多的奥秘。
仙人球上的发现
妈妈给我买了盆仙人球，我非常兴奋。我捧起仙人球东看看，西瞧瞧，只见它像皮球一样大小，墨绿色的，坚硬的小刺覆盖着它的全身。我突然发现底下的泥土得都裂开了，便想痛快地给它浇水。妈妈见了连忙阻止我：“仙人球不能多浇水，否则会死的！”我嘀咕道：“浇水怎么可能死呢？不浇水才会干死呢！”于是，我每天按时悄悄地给仙人球浇水。
一个星期后，我猛然间发现仙人球的根部溃烂了，刺儿全都掉光了，这是怎么回事？我查阅《百科全书》后才明白妈妈说的话是有道理的。原来仙人球的叶子已经演化成了小刺，以减少水分的蒸发。根系通常纤细，浅而且分布范围广，用以吸收表层水分。仙人球中间是空的，可以储存水分。到了干旱的季节，它可以不吃不喝，把体内的消耗降低到最低程度。
当我知道这个原因时不禁感叹：只要我们有一双善于发现一切周围事物的眼睛，我相信我们一定可以发现人类还未发现的现象。
